Please take a few minutes to read this letter.

It is not too late. You can still do something personally to get America back in to Panama and get Red China out.

By December 31, 1999, with Congress and the White House having failed to act, the last of our U.S. military bases in Panama had been surrendered.

A Hong Kong-based company closely linked to the Red Chinese government had gained control of the two crucial container ports on the Atlantic and Pacific sides of the Canal, as well as certain nearby facilities.

Now, despite the intent even of those who supported the 1978 Carter/Torrijos treaties, those former U.S. military facilities could soon belong, not to the Panamanians, but to foreign governments and corporations, including some in China and Russia.

This must not be allowed to happen.

I have traveled to Panama twice in recent months -- I was there in mid-December when Jimmy Carter, David Rockefeller, and Sol Linowitz ceremonially handed the Canal and Zone over to the Panamanians, and I returned again in February to meet with key officials in charge of the bidding process which will determine the future of the former U.S. bases -- military assets which are worth literally billions of dollars.

It is now one of my top priorities to persuade you and other patriotic Americans to consider bidding on those U.S. military bases to help make sure that our nation's enemies do not gain direct control of them.

Please review the materials on this site and let me know if you have an interest concerning bidding at the auctions of the U.S. military facilities.

RSVP by fax (not e-mail) to 703-281-4108.

Sincerely,

Howard Phillips
